What to expect?

Playing roller hockey in London for the first time?

Here are some details on what you can expect:

Thank you for being patient over the past few weeks as we work through many variables to kick off the 2024 spring/summer season. We have had a few hurdles but are boasting more registrations than in any year past.

  1. Please review the Season Schedule that will continue to be refined as all divisions, teams and player details are confirmed.

  2. For Volunteers and Coaches:

    1. The success of our league is highly dependent on volunteers to coach, swing doors, and keep players motivated through encouragement.  Please ensure you have a recent police check if you can volunteer or coach. To obtain one, click here: https://www.londonpolice.ca/en/services/Vulnerable-Sector-Check.aspx

    2. You will require this RHL Police Instruction Letter.

  3. The official league play will start on Monday, April 22nd. Teams will be posted in advance, and our NEW team jerseys will be handed out before each team’s first game.

    1. At the end of April or early May, teams will be asses to ensure fairness and equality and that there is a balance of play to create the more optimal season we can build.

  4. Our season is about fun, lots of skating, many goals and a lot of learning. We promote mainly gameplay with minimal time spent on drills and as much sweat as possible!

    1. Players of the game will be handed out with a focus on hard work, team support, and improvement.

    2. The U6 Learn To Roll program will prioritize learning the sport, fun drills and games, trying new positions (including goalie), scrimmages and other development-minded scenarios.

  5. Roller hockey is a fantastic take on traditional hockey filled with strategy, excellent hand-eye coordination, control, and creativity. We ask that if you are new to the sport, please review this page on our site to help get you started.

    1. Watch more tips on getting started

  6. Our adult league is played on Wednesday (Competitive Division) & Thursday (Recreational Division) nights between 8 and 10 pm. We always welcome our youth players to watch and see some ‘old’ roller guys playing the sport to its fullest.

  7. Assistance. Volunteers will always be around and can be identified by their blue RHL shirts and or hats, and our Hockey Director (Cam) will also be at all time slots. Volunteers can offer support and help answer any questions you have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for support, skate parts, equipment needs etc.

  8. Water bottles:

    1. Water and the sport court are not friends. Please always keep your bottle on the bench and not on the boards.

You can always email info@rollerhockeylondon.com, and we will get back to you.
